Thanks for the mention!
My comment made it into the video – woohoo!
I still think Sonic is massively overrated but I know I'm very much in the minority. I always liked games that were different, even when I was a kid, so platformers and shooters just didn't appeal to me.
My favorites on Genesis were Ranger X, Zombies Ate My Neighbors and Dragon's Fury.
Wonderful
The Mega Drive version of Flashback is the original. Paul Cuisset confirmed that in an issue of Retro Gamer. The Amiga version released first only because they held the MD version back to release alongside the SNES port
Herzog Zwei is the most important Genesis game, having created the entire RTS genre.
Also surprised to not see Moonwalker.
Being more of 1970s gamer, I'm not surprised to see my two personal favorites not on the list: Flicky and Powerball
Excellent video as always.
Another great list video. I have to say that I don't have any issue with any of the top 20. These are all just amazing games. I would have hoped that at least Super Fantasy Zone would have made the list because Fantasy Zone is a classic Sega series; the soundtrack is so amazing; and it's such a colorful game. However, I'm sure it's lack of a US release hurts it; plus, other bigger Sega titles failed to make it up the list too, so I don't feel too bad. I'm always glad to see MK2 on a top-x greatest list. But, I'm definitely not surprised Two Crude Dudes did NOT make it. I wouldn't be surprised if I'm the only one who threw it a nostalgia vote. ha
Streets of Rage 1 > 2
I don't like the animations or cartoon-y look/feel of SoR2
My favourites are cannon fodder and sonic. Pretty solid list tho 👍
I'm genuinely surprised to see Pit Fighter on this list – it's horrible.
NHL 94 is the one
I'm sorry but the original Sonic is not better than Sonic 3. Personally, I feel that 3 is better than 2, but there's no way that 1 is even in the conversation.
Pit Fighter really? No. Just no.
Alot of my favourites here, espesh the streets of rage games and mk2
Surprised to see the amazing Gauntlet IV here: it deserves a place even only for the stunning soundtrack, who has been possible thanks to an extra audio chip installed on the cart (for what I know). Another surprise is Pit Fighter: it's been years since I'm saying that the Mega Drive version is not just the only decent home console conversion, but also a very fun game in every aspect.
Seeing all the the three Sonic made me think why you added all Sonic chapter here and not just one, where the other two spots could be easily be assigned to Probotector (or Contra Hard Corps) and Castlevania (Bloodlines/The New Generation). 😉
NHL '94 and '95 are both two incredibly fun games! Despite not being a sport fan, I love owning some soccer, basketball and hockey games on my shelves.
Super Real Basketball, NBA Hangtime and NBA Live '97 are, for example, three masterpieces of basketball games on the Mega Drive: the first of the list especially was a kind of upgraded Konami's Double Dribble…LOVE IT! Despite my small appreciation for basketball games on the Sega 16-bit hardware, I've never liked NBA Jam: the AI is cheap as f**k, making the whole game a stupidly hard and unfair experience. Plus, come aspects of the gameplay are just broken! I'm still surprised to see how much fans this version still has, and honetsly I can't understand the reason of this massive love for the Mega Drive port…I don't get it.
I love only sega genesis the console just had way better fun games
Phantasy Star 2 is my absolute favorite game for Mega Drive / Genesis. It was the first game I bought for the console with my own money I earned in my first job.
Dang, no Contra or Castlevania. It's hard to agree in all since we all have different tastes. Still good list. TMNT Hyperstone Heist it's also an awesome game, Atomic Runner is sooo underrated, best looking game on the Genesis to me.
Pit fighter? Wtf
