Yet another zombies survivors review game
Yet Another Zombie Survivors (YAZS) is a horde survival bullet heaven game in the vein of Vampire Survivors, but with a zombie apocalypse theme. Like other games in the genre, you control a character who attacks automatically, and you focus on moving them around the screen to dodge enemies and collect power-ups.
YAZS features a 3D art style, which is a departure from the usual pixel graphics of these games. Some reviewers find the 3D aesthetic to be a breath of fresh air, while others find the enemies and power-ups to be difficult to see due to their size and the chaotic nature of the game.
The game features multiple characters to unlock, each with their own unique starting weapon and abilities. There is also a roguelike element to the game, as you collect permanent upgrades between runs that make your characters stronger.
However, some reviewers find that YAZS lacks the variety and complexity of other games in the genre. The upgrade pool is also split by character, which some players feel limits your strategic options. Additionally, the game currently lacks co-op play, which is a popular feature in other survivor games.
Overall, Yet Another Zombie Survivors is a decent entry in the bullet heaven genre, but it doesn’t do enough to stand out from the crowd. If you’re looking for a new twist on the classic formula, it might be worth checking out. However, if you’re already a fan of games like Vampire Survivors, you might be better off sticking with those.
Here is a summary of the pros and cons of Yet Another Zombie Survivors:
Pros:
- Unique 3D art style (for this genre)
- Multiple characters to unlock
- Roguelike elements with permanent upgrades
Cons:
- Lacks the variety and complexity of other games in the genre
- Upgrade pool is split by character, limiting strategic options
- No co-op play

I enjoyed the game. I'm hoping they add more content like Vampire Survivors.
I had blood test yesterday and they had to resort to the hand. So painful!
Nope… utter bollocks
God I hate that genre. None of the games (so far) are fun enough to last a week, but all of them are fun enough to burn through the 2 hour refund limit.
Timewasters did decent then the dev messed with balance.
Hatred for the most of this genre. Frustration for the rest.
Uh you can't really jump on this games price… All things considered it's really low. Vampire survivors dev undervalued his work and it was solo developed game. You can't put any other game in this basket.. because vampire survivors released at 2$ and it's better. Thus any other game is overpriced because vampire survivors costs next to nothing. This isn't realistic for full time development studio. I honestly don't think any indie should be selling their games under 15$ unless they really crank out something very simple or short.
Id call them a 'Robotron 2084- like game'.
It's a one-stick shooter
Edit: Goes to show, people appreciate good gameplay, varied options and lots of content over good graphics (this is probably one of the best examples; 2D vs 3D but everything else is in Vampire Survivors' favor).
Mack, the genre is officially known as an ASS game: Auto Shooting Survival. Hope that clears up the confusion.
Currently Bio-Prototype is my go to survivors style game. Multiple difficulty levels, and you get to evolve your character throughout as you evolve after each wave. But the parts you add to your character can only match up with other specific parts, so that's where the strategy comes in as you mix and match parts to be more effective. Of course RNG is a factor in that as the parts you get are randomized, but that's part of the fun as you can't rely on one specific build over and over like you can in Vampire Survivors. Give it a look if it's something you're into. It's cheap as well at only $4.
Is that the actual name of the game?
Was legit halfway through this before I realised the game is literally called Yet Another Zombie Survivors. Looks great so I'm surprised they didn't bother even naming it.
Bullet Heaven, Mack.
I think this game. Needs more content though
Would be interested in this if they added manual aim option like Halls Of Torment (a game you should review!)
This looks like what those mobile game ads try to be
Who would have thought that mack the boomer likes a game that plays itself and does everything for you.
Might as well start playing mobile games from China at this rate mate
Have you played Halls of Torment yet?
Nope, price is in rip off territory. The only other Bullet Heaven that costs this much, Soulstone Survivors has 10x the amount of content. I guess it easy to 👍a game when your not the one paying your hard earned dollars for it.
It's Loaded!!! Super addictive game similar to this on the PSX….just absolute carnage 100% of the time lol.
Is it even possible to make a bad vamp survivors clone? This looks good, project lazarus is good, pretty sure I saw Mack play some early access cartoon orc lookng thing that looked good…
Cepheus Protocol, Mack. Massive island map RTS/third person, in the style of JTF, but way better. It is really stinky shit, fun as hell. Evacuate civilians for cash and capture zones for regular income. Purchase base building stuff and vehicles and troops. The base defence element is great fun. The zombies mutate into huge creatures. Call in airstrikes of various kinds. Unlock technology (weapons, vehicles, strikes, base defence components) using the DNA samples that you must get a scientist to physically collect from fallen zeek. Closer to WWZ than anything out there. The attention to detail of the military equipment and environment is incredible. Well worth your time. 7 guys working on it and it is a WIP, but I was instantly addicted and poured in 30 hours in two days. Worth a buy. 👍
Love you, Mack! Keep up the good work.
The genre should be called Auto Shoot Survivor, these are ASS games.
Great. Another walking simulator.
I call them, "Open World Issac-likes", lol.
Rather than Vampire Survivors – a mobile game called Magic Survival was pretty much the first in this kinda genre. And it's also the best one.
I really wish the people who made these clone games actually tried to idk, innovate a little.
Can't see myself buying any more of em if they are just going to be reskins
Looks like a mobile game
Steam made the label "Bullet Heaven" official for these types of games, even with the upcoming Bullet Heaven Festival in November
Will you be reviewing Baldurs Gate 3?
You're comparing the price of a pixel game to a 3D game, whhaaaaat?
I'm becoming sick of these vampire survivors clones. It's a good game but after a couple of hours it becomes boring for me
Bullet heaven iirc?
I enjoyed the demo of this game when Steam had it's demofest or whatever, too bad they let it go on sale with still just the one map.
Hey man, just came here to remind you to review Remnant II, which is coming out on July 25. Would be quite interested in hearing your opinion of it.
