It doesn't really matter to me which key is bound to which action, as crouch, sprint and grenades are all mapped to buttons on my mouse. Because my fingers lack coordination. I find most games bind crouch to LCTRL, so C could be a carryover from older (Win 95/98) games? Also, "E" for interaction. Why "F"? Always have to change that one…
Ergonomic would be to turn it clockwise not counterclockwise. No wonder you can't shift crouch. Do you jump with your index instead of tumb, or are you a lefty and I'm misunderstanding completely?

The tutorials were unforgiving, the bunkers were smelly and the the dance moves…..were so malicious even my uncle couldn't show me.
