I like how the VHS Rifle shakes when you aim down it's sights. In general, nice to see ads in the game now. I also love the aftermath. Shells, ragdolls, broken wood pieces, blood spatter, and bullet holes. Everything has that nice touch that Fear 1 (And by an extent, Max Payne 1-3 and John Woo movies) had. Gotta thank you and Rivarez for making me obsessed with permanent messes in shooters.

i really wanna like this game but the particle effects are so over the top it's just distracting to me and doesn't look that great. shooting wood shouldn't make it explode and shooting metal shouldn't throw off a shower of sparks like a welder. everything is cranked to 100 and it makes it really hard to tell what is even going on at any given time. then the aftermath is just lackluster after seeing so much supposed destruction take place.

its better than nothing i suppose but its a pretty elementary way to handle destruction imo. not a fan of the way wood just explodes into tiny splinters when shot a few times. looks cool tho if you dont think too much about it

I love this afthermath…Typical hoolywood FX cranked up by ~500%…. is so awesome to look at 😍 I hate games with so poor hits fx, decals,particles fx, explosions, and other FX's….They look so sterile and don't deliver satisfaction. Even some "realistic" games fx's are so weak than real life ones are much better. That's why I use or make mods for any game that I could to have better experience. Trepang 2 have FEAR vibes mixed with BLACK on steroids and I love it. This is my NR.1 game to play in 2023.

Can't say I'm overly impressed. I think Red Faction 1 is still the best because it's pretty much the only fps where you can dig holes through the level with explosives. Locked door? No problem, dig around it! Destruction's become more detailed, but functionally it's still behind what we got over 2 decades ago.

I'm looking forward towards this game, it really have feel of old good F.E.A.R.

About destruction itself, nothing fancy, but also not absent as in most games nowadays, pretty much reminds old good Half-Life 2 prop destruction system where breakable stuff just get destroyed into pieces after taking too much damage, and what making it even more closer to Half-Life 2 prop system, it have some props just being unresponsive for some reason as kitchen in 3:30, where concrete column can be damaged, but not these kitchen shelves.

The destruction is very, very basic, but these particle effects are still nice and I appreciate how well-optimized it appears to be while running this much chaos and interactive props, especially with how most of it appears to stay. It's not quite to the level of F.E.A.R. in terms of particle effects, but it's still a good effort from what I saw here. I do think F.E.A.R. is still superior overall however, due to better and more satisfying decals as well.

This destruction looks like it was from 2006, the aftermath is good, but eh… this needs some really heavy work to be something special. The non-destructible things in a destructible environment really kill the feeling, and I feel like things break too easily as well. That grenade spam, where the grenades feel more like mini hand-held 5kg bombs, does not really help.

Hey thanks so much for making the video, glad you had fun blowing up the killhouse!
Just to answer a couple questions:

*ADS/ironsights is a cheat that's only unlocked after beating the game*. Trepang2 is a movement shooter, so in the regular mode most weapons cannot ADS. But once you beat the game, you're free to play it a different way.

Also the effects/performance, this is running on the "insane" video settings which are meant to look super crazy, and not optimized for performance or visibility (super dense smoke, lots of sparks with lighting effects), but it requires a very high end PC, at least a recent i7 cpu and 3080. With any other video settings the smoke and sparks are not quite as dense but it'll run 60fps on low-mid end PCs (I'm on an i5 9400, 2070 super and I get 60+ fps in this scene in 4k).

Might consider making an insane+ mode where even more chunks of wood stay, but it'll be very cpu intensive. It's tricky because we have 10-20 live enemies with machine guns, explosives etc in the scene, with how crazy the combat gets we have to aim for the lowest performance impact with destructible effects.

i really hope they add the option to have the older type of zooming in they had in F.E.A.R. its hard to show off all your particle effects if you have your gun taking up alot of screen space. well, i dont think itll be that big of an issue since youll be sliding around and firing from the hip most of the time.
